31 Days of Halloween: Day Three - Jennifer's Body

I tell you. This years watch-a-thon is off to a bit of a dull start. Both films, Winchester and Blood Hook disappointed. Yet, I, Das Bob, will persevere. There will be many more films this October and they won't all suck...right...I mean that's not a thing that can happen, right? Susan???? Is that a thing Susan???????

Anyways, while Susan checks the numbers on that, Let's get to tonight's film....

Jennifer's Body!

In 2009 Megan Fox was a bit of a mainstream "it" girl. Just coming off the success of the first Transformers movie, she became a hot commodity. This was also a good time to be writer Diablo Cody just coming off the success of her first film Juno. So what better follow up for both than a somewhat campy high school horror film that was meant to make you laugh, scream, and maybe titillate the senses. This was also a time in which Emo-pop-punk reigned supreme and while it is more of a joke in Jennifer's body. You still gotta listen to it, which is not what I would say good. Sadly, for all involved the fun stopped here. Jennifer's body was poorly received for the most part, and didn't really capture enough of the scares, the laughs, or the titilates to garner some good reviews as it sits with a 44% rotten rating on the fruit rating site.

Das Bobs Embarrassing Confession #1239

In the mid-to late noughties I was involved in a semi-successful Emo band called Reginald's Coffin. Our hit single "I am Weasel for your Love" reached number one on the back of our album. The band broke up in 2012 though, citing differences of opinion and lack of actually existing as reasons.

That's some fine picture taking Susan!

Well, whatever people think of it, we welcome Jennifer's body into the Das Bobs 31 Days of Halloween family. It can't be worse than Winchester.

Which reminds me. Winchester is still the front runner for the Silver Schiesse award this year. Now, there are a lot of other films to come before a victor is crowned, but it's a good start for the lady of Winchester manor and her boring movie.

Feel free to comment, email, send flaming homing pigeon in response if you feel it's deserving. Or if you feel another film should win, be watched, lose...whatever I like hearing opinions.

Das Bobs Actual Trivia about 31 Days of Halloween #1

Jennifer's Body was released in 2009 and according to stat tracker Susan, seven other films from that year have graced the 31 Days. Those include the first ever film watched for the fest, The Revenant(not the Oscar winning one) and also first ever Silver Schiesse award winner Smash Cut. Facts!

This will be watched on DVD for those keeping track...and Susan says it is technically possible to watch only bad films in the month. So, there's that.
