31 Days of Halloween: Day One - Winchester

To quote the mostly immortal Shang Tsung "It Haaaaaasssssss Begun." It being Das Bobs 6th annual 31 Days of Halloween. A celebration of all movies horror, thriller, mystery, cult, and just plain bad. This year is a special year because I have a website! A new first! A place for you the people, the fans, the lost and hungry to come and feed off the twisted brain power of Das Bob. A stranger that you met on the internet, by accident most likely. You may be asking what makes my list different from every one else's? Nothing, so let's move on.

Sitting pretty with a 14% rotten rating, and a more optimistic 5.4/10 Imdb rating, Winchester may not be the peak of quality expected to start this years fest off. Just remember, bad quality still has the word quality in it. Starring Helen Mirren as Sarah Winchester, who gained great wealth when her father-in-law, the owner of the Winchester repeating arms company, and her husband both died leaving her a massive inheritance. She then used this wealth to expand on the Winchester mansion adding in stair cases to nowhere, doors that open into empty space or walls, and a lot of sinister puce draperies (unconfirmed, but we all know it's true). This has left Winchester mansion as a pretty popular tourist attraction, because who doesn't enjoy poorly planned out architecture.

We are all wild winchy women

Das Bobs real "super true" fun fact #53 The Winchester 1873 rifle was one of the most successful rifles of its day, leading people to call it "The Gun that won the West." Sadly its popularity never made it back to the East where the Nerf 1855 Super Bounce still reigned supreme.

Popular belief is that Sarah Winchester began to think she was cursed. Thinking that she was being haunted by the ghosts of the untold numbers of people killed by her husbands rifles. Leading her to believe that only by building random expansions on the mansion (including aforementioned puce drapery) would she somehow quell the evil spirits. Because like all good evil spirits, they just all wanted their own rooms.

This is from Winchester right?

All joking and truthing aside. Let us bask in the warm radiant joy of October and the return of Das Bob's 31 Days of Halloween. For without this, a bored middle aged man would have nothing to do tonight. So, sit back and enjoy the ghost filled documentary about a poorly planned mansion in America, Winchester!

Das Bobs Lifestyle Thoughts #199

I would totally buy a mini version of the Winchester mansion and use it as a catio. At least as a house for my cats to live in and be scared by cat ghosts...seriously someone needs to make this a thing.

As an aside, this will be watched on Canadian Netflix.
